I love pulling out our juicer and blending up refreshing, nourishing drinks. One of our favourites? This Sunshine Juice — a vibrant, hydrating, immune-supportive drink that is loaded with vitamin C and feels like a sip of pure sunshine!
I often enjoy it after a busy day or following a weekend of indulgences. It’s packed with anti-inflammatory ingredients that are heart-healthy, skin-nourishing, and full of antioxidants. Plus, it’s so simple to make and perfect for the whole family — even my little one enjoys it!
Why This Juice Is So Good for You
Limes: Rich in vitamin C and folate, limes are immune-supportive, anti-inflammatory, and even contain compounds linked to cancer protection. They also support digestion by stimulating gastric juices — just the thought of a juicy lime makes your mouth water!
Oranges: Another vitamin C powerhouse, oranges provide antioxidants and phytochemicals that work together to support heart health, skin, and overall immunity.
Whole fruit is a wonderful choice over popping supplements, as the nutrients naturally synergize.
Other Ingredients: Celery, cucumber, mint or basil, apple, and grapefruit (or extra orange) make this juice hydrating, refreshing, and loaded with beneficial plant compounds.
This juice supports digestion naturally! It is packed with ingredients that support your digestive system. Limes and oranges stimulate gastric juices, celery and cucumber provide gentle fibre and water to keep things moving, and mint or basil can soothe your stomach.
Even the bright, fresh flavours signal your body that digestion is starting, making this juice a delicious way to give your gut a happy boost.
The ingredients in this recipe made enough for two glasses of perfect for Walker and I and a slurp from Vienna. 😉 Update: I still make this juice, now that Vienna is 10 years old, it’s one of her favourites. I just doubled the recipe!
The sunshine juice is not only super tasty and nourishing but it is also very hydrating.
Here’s the recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 large grapefruit or 2 medium oranges
- 2 limes
- 1/2 cup fresh mint or basil
- 3-4 stalks celery
- 1/4 of a cucumber
- 1 apple
- Wash and cut all fruits and veggies into chunks small enough to fit through the spout of your juicer.
If you don't have a juicer, you can also blend all these ingredients together and strain with a nutbag or wire mesh strainer.
EnJOY!
Have a joyous day!

For the grapefruit/oranges and limes, would those go in with peel or should the peel be removed first?
Hi Jody! If they are organic you could leave some of the peel on (leaving the whole peel might make it a tad too bitter). But if they are conventionally grown, I’d definitely peel them.
Enjoy 🙂

Isn’t it always better for your body to use all of the ingredients and use a vitamix and you get all the fibre? I have both a juicer and vitamix and have stopped using my juicer. what are the benefits of juicing? I’m thinking the only thing that changes is the calorie count goes up a tad if you vitamix the recipe and get all the added fibre?
Hi Debra! I think this post will answer all your questions: http://live-stronger.news/blog/2014/09/09/blending-vs-juicing-which-is-better/%3C/a%3E%3Cbr /> I hope that helps 🙂
